Counselling with
Jeff Maciejko

You keep thinking, "I should probably talk to someone."

Then you don't, because it feels like a lot. Or expensive. Or you're not sure you're "struggling enough" to need help. Maybe you're just tired of feeling held together by coffee and spite. If that sounds like you, let's talk. I'm a practicum counsellor offering reduced-rate sessions for people who are ready to stop just getting by.

Who I Work With

You don't need to be in crisis to talk to someone

I work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or need help navigating emotional turmoil. I often work with men who are trying to make sense of their inner world.

Common reasons people reach out include:

  • The same argument with your partner, on repeat
  • Grief, breakups, or big life changes
  • Anxiety, overthinking, or feeling "on edge" all the time
  • Burnout, numbness, or a lack of purpose
  • Feeling like you "should be fine" but something still isn't right

What to Expect

More real conversation,
less “and how does that make you feel?”

We slow things down, pay attention to what's actually going on, and make sense of the patterns that keep showing up. It's not about fixing you - it's about understanding what's happening.

A steady presence

Someone in your corner who's not going to judge you

Real questions

The kind that actually help you understand yourself

No rushing to fix

We figure out what's going on before jumping to solutions

Clarity over time

Making sense of your reactions and what's behind them

Over time, people usually describe feeling clearer, more grounded, and better at handling hard moments without spiraling.

My Approach

Relational, curious, and grounded in your experience

How I Work

Rather than trying to force change, we pay attention to the emotions, beliefs, and protective strategies that have developed over time - and why they make sense in the context of your life. We look at your experiences in the larger picture of your relationships, history, and values, and work toward a way of being that feels more like you, with you in the driver seat.

Inclusive Practice

My practice is inclusive and affirming. I welcome LGBTQ2S+ clients, neurodivergent clients, and people from all backgrounds. I've trained in anti-oppressive approaches, but I treat that as ongoing work, not a box I've checked. I try to meet each person with humility and a willingness to learn.

About Jeff

A bit about me

I came to counselling after years of working in roles where I saw how much people struggle in silence - and how much it helps when someone actually listens. I trained at the Vancouver College of Counsellor Training in a program that emphasizes the therapeutic relationship above all else.

When I'm not in session, you'll probably find me hiking somewhere on the island, up to some light-hearted mischeif, or trying to keep my houseplants alive. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real conversation, not a clinical exercise.

I'm currently completing my practicum at Eleven Arrows in Nanaimo, working toward my Registered Therapeutic Counsellor designation. That means reduced rates for you, and quality supervision for me.

Let’s Talk

If you’re curious about working together, the next step is a short, free consultation. We’ll talk about what’s been going on for you, what you’re looking for in counselling, and whether it feels like a good fit.
